"Rock Solid" Ron Potts
Drums
Ron has played drums most of his life staring in elementary school. In high school his membership in various marching bands, jazz bands and combos as well as percussion with various orchestras lead to becoming a professional at the early age of 16.
In the early 70’s Ron became the drummer for the local Bay Area rock band ‘Gentle Annie’ (which spawned the great Journey bass player, Ross Valory). He later joined the rock band, ‘Bittersweet’, and played numerous venues in the bay area including, Bimbo’s, The Orphanage, Longshoreman’s Hall, North Beach Revival, Keystone Corner, The New Monk, Inn at the Beginning, Pepperland, the Sacramento Civic and Fillmore West. During this period, Bittersweet appeared with the likes of Boz Scaggs, The Doobie Brothers, Tower of Power, The Tubes, and Harvey Mandel, among many others.
Lately Ron has played with several groups from the San Mateo coast but is most excited about backing the dynamic Catie Chase as the drummer for ‘Catie Chase and the Getaways’!
